Garry and I attended a wedding of a good friend’s daughter last night. As a rule going to weddings are my least favorite thing to do. I ’m not a fun date at this once in a life time affair of love and commitment.

During most weddings I make smart ass commitments to Garry or anyone else who’s unfortunate enough to be sitting next to me. I guess I think of myself as an expert on marriage since I have been married for forty plus years .In the past I have said so many bitter, negative things, I wonder where this very ugly side of me comes from. You would think for someone who’s been happily married for so long, I would be excited to see others starting their life’s journey together.

After some soul searching, I have come up with the issue I have with weddings. I am jealous. Plain and simple. Jealous because I never had my day as a bride in a wedding.

Well, now that I know where this childish, immature attitude is coming from, I ‘m making some serious mental attitude changes.

So, last night we witnessed the most beautiful wedding I had ever seen. The ceremony took place outside. The weather was perfect, mild temperatures, blue skies and a gentle breeze. It looked like a scene from a movie. The evening was filled with so much love and happiness for this young couple. I know with all the love and support from their family and friends this newly married couple will have a lifetime of wonderful memories together.

Astonishing honesty. Thank you for the post. Now I don’t have to feel like such a creep when I feel that ugly, green monster rear its head at me (usually when I’m looking in the proverbial mirror)!
