The Best Compliment Ever

What was the best or nicest compliment someone gave you and how it made you feel?

When I was a little girl my Momma always said I was pretty, had a beautiful smile, was funny, and had a good singing voice. Those things were nice, but she was my Momma. She was supposed to think those things about her favorite baby girl.

My children always said I was the best Mom ever, I was a good cook, I was always there for them, and they enjoy doing things with me. In reality they are great kids. It was easy being a good Mom to the best kids ever.

The person who gave me the best complement was my husband Garry. He said he admired me because I wasn’t afraid to try or do anything. He wished he was more like me. Words can’t describe how proud I was for the person whom I admire more than anyone in the world to tell me that. It’s true I’m not afraid to try something different. If a person doesn’t venture out and try new things, they will never know the joy of self accomplishment. You may not be good at all the things you try, but you did it, and you did your very best. That makes you a winner in my books.

I tell my grandchildren never say you can’t do something because you are afraid to try something new. I was afraid to enlist in the Air Force at twenty seven. I did it anyway and graduated with honors. Every job I ever had I started at the bottom and worked my way up to management. I never settled for less. I took pride in whatever I did. There has been many times when no matter how hard I tried, it didn’t work out as well as I wanted. Sure I was disappointed, but at least I tried.

Now tell me what was the best or nicest complement someone gave you and how it made you feel. I’m looking forward to hearing from you.

It is not what you say or do to a person that matters; it’s how you made them feel after you leave.

Oh gosh I love this post. I feel so fortunate to have had many compliments over my many years so it would be hard to pinpoint one. I love it when someone says I have a big heart. You’ve told me that and a couple other friends.
I love it when someone gets something out of my writing, as it has become a part of me. My older son told me when he was here, “Mom you may not think I do, but I read your blog. You write like you talk and it makes it easy and interesting to read.” Yea I loved that one.
So I really can’t pinpoint. I can say one thing. I love every single compliment you give me, my friend. Your words resonate with me and give me warmth and peace.
    Much love,
